United Airlines Ground Service Equipment & Building Maintenance facility (8121 NE Airport Way, Portland, OR) has successfully recertified for EcoBiz. Tasked with maintaining ground equipment at Portland International Airport (PDX), the shop continues to improve its environmental practices. With leadership from Jeff Barrow, Supervisor & Environmental Coordinator, United:
- Covers scrap metal, used tires and other waste to prevent run-off;
- Provides secondary containment for all large tanks and 55 gallon drums ;
- Follows comprehensive safety and training protocols; and
- Seeks new ways to reduce the use of toxics and improve practices.
